About the artist

Louis was born in 1944 in a small town called Middelburg in the Karoo area of South Africa where rain is always welcome.

After school he attained a qualification as a teacher. He mainly taught art in primary schools and later became a headmaster.

During his teaching career he attended private art classes and later enrolled for

BA. Fine art at UNISA

He resigned from teaching 10 years ago to do art fulltime.

 

Louis has always found soul food in being creative - especially painting, which inspiration was strengthened when he spent some time to tour Europe and the Greek islands. Spending time in the museums and art galleries contributed to this ambition. He loves painting landscapes and is concerned with Man''s abuse of Our World, so endeavours to capture the beauty of nature through his paintings. "Art is the best way to escape without leaving home...."

Louis insight and passion for art is evident in his unique artworks which bring warmth, depth and beauty into a room.
